We develop novel analytical methods to understand the underlying genetics of human diseases and the molecular epidemiology of disease-causing organisms using high-throughput data. We are interested in identifying prognostic markers in cancer and studying tumor clonal evolution from a ppremalignant state to transformed, therapeutically resistant disease. Understanding complexity, dynamics, and stochastic patterns in data —concepts native to physics and mathematics— is critical for elucidating how diseases like cancer originate and evolve.
